Award-winning Shrewsbury Indian restaurant the Shalimar has launched a new menu that introduces a range of gourmet dishes to its culinary offering.
The Chef's Signature selection gives customers a greater choice of dishes and a more luxurious taste of Tandoor cooking.
All main course Signature dishes are served in rich sauces created using a combination of fresh herbs and spices and other ingredients. The 12 main courses include creations such as:
- Suganda - a dish comprisng of chicken, lamb or king prawn that has been marinated in fresh herbs and spices, served in a sauce of fresh cream, butter and mango and topped with fresh spinach.
- Naga Special - chicken, lamb or prawn cooked with onion and peppers in a yoghurt gravy with rich mosala spices, naga pickle and fresh coriander.
- Palak Mirchi - chicken or lamb simmered with spicy long chillies, fresh spinach, and crushed coriander seeds and mince meat.
There is also a range of eight Chef's Signature starters to choose from including Badami Chicken Tikka, that is cooked in cream and almonds, and Jhinga Peri Peri, a dish of king prawns cooked in a zesty Piri Piri chilli sauce.
Head chef Al-Amin Parvej said the dishes were influenced by traditional Tandoor cooking but brought up to date with contemporary flavours.
"The dishes are more luxurious in taste and texture, creating an extra special eating experience at the Shalimar," he said.
"I love experimenting with flavours and marrying traditional spices with more contemporary ingredients to produce dishes that appeal to a modern palette."
The Chef's Signature dishes come served on their own set of contemporary white china.
